Customer Engagement Network

Dear all,
I have been asked to carry out a brief audit of a few music artist websites to identify how they could be better utilised. My governing thought here is that websites for music fans are ripe for all things customer engagement.

I am currently attempting to formulate a list of attributes for online best practice customer engagement, so under an atomisation category I may have the integration of the official artist website with existing fan sites on facebook or MySpace. The attributes will enable me to carry out an audit across artist sites.

My question is, instead of reinventing the wheel, has best practice online customer engagement been defined and can anyone point me toward any insightful resources?

I would suggest looking at Eric Petersons blog on measuring enagement. The equation he produced is a good starting point for what elements would need to be included in an audit.
